Stark Winter

One of my all time favorite 'snow' photos here in the Appalachians...

  2. Yeah Fire Byrd, As I recall it was so cold that it almost hurt (although I have learned how to dress for this type of weather here.) The shot was taken during a blizzard, thus the 'foggy' background in through the trees is the snow blowing. It came out looking almost 2 dimensional; which I really loved. Plus, it was taken in 'color' but there was so little color in the blizzard, that it looks B & W. I really couldn't believe how well it turned out, though.

  4. Oh, that's just gorgeous. Wonderful shot that feels as cold as it was, apparently.

  5. Like a black and white pencil sketch. Perfect! Amazing how winter transforms Nature into black and white.

  6. A beautiful silvery image. Deeply still and, yes, I love the two-dimensionality of it. SF State University photography class assignment: Shoot a picture with color film (you remember film!) but without color. Always loved seeing those.
