This was taken while sitting in chair at my desk working at the computer. The camera was set up on a tripod beside me waiting for the bird to come and feed. The lens was pre-focused on the spot the bird was going to fly into.
Mandy - I'd thoroughly recommend that SLR... you'll soon discover why some of us are so hopelessly addicted to their creative possibilities!
You can start simple, no more difficult than a point-and-shoot... then when you find yourself in a situation where the robot doesn't quite understand what you're asking it to do, you can begin that learning journey... :-)
