Acorn Woodpecker Pantry

  1. You are correct, Gail. These birds do drill holes into dead trees and telephone posts, where they stash their gathered nuts. They return to feast. The woodpeckers eat the worms and bugs that have hatched out inside the acorns since being planted in the hole.
