Superb, especially with the flash of light up top. I like that the photographer is invisible here--as though the camera alone were there with the bird!
Mel, specifically - Red Grouse. Fire Byrd, I'd never seen one before and every time I got the camera out it ducked down behind a bit of heather, must be camera shy ;-)
Normally the only glint of glass they'll see is just before their friend beside them vanishes in a spray of blood and feathers, so it's no wonder they're shy...
You did well to shoot one - bloodlessly - without a beater chasing them into view.
I much prefer our way of hunting wildlife, with cameras.
