This was a 2 minute exposure. The night was very dark except when the lightning lit part of the sky. More than 50 forest fires were started in a few minutes. No rain, lots of wind, middle of the summer. I give thanks for the fire fighters who did the difficult task of dealing with the wild fires.
I am pleased that you like this photo! It was a spectacular evening and I was able to make this photo from inside my house back in the hot summer of 1992. It was a gift shot/ series. The ""dry lightning storm passed in about an hour. Thankfully it was a one time occurance. Living surrounded by forests is wonderful, but fire is not.
