The hall represents Mount Sumeru - This is a sacred mountain in Hindu mythology considered to be the centre of the universe. The domed stained glass ceiling is meant to represent the roof of the world and was made in glass so that light and goodness could pass through it.

Nature's claim

Mt Ruapehu

I took this photo from our car window (and yes we were travelling at normal speed) so I was surprised that it is so clear. Mt Ruapehu is one of a group of three mountains in central North Island.
